Children for Children continued to experience exciting growth in 2005 thanks to the energy and dedication of its outstanding supporters, staff, Board and thousand’s of young people participating in CFC’s service programs and events.
We are continually inspired by the enthusiasm with which educators, parents and kids embrace the importance of engaging youths from all backgrounds in volunteering and giving from a early age.
Time and again, kids prove that they have the best ideas and the most articulate understanding of Children for Children’s mission and value. As 18-year-old Svetlana Azova, member of the CFC’s Youth Planning Committee, recently said in her welcoming remarks at one of our events, “Youth can make a difference in the world and show that ethnicity, race, gender and age are not defining factors of a caring individual. Instead, it’s the size of his or her heart, and the limitless outreach of his or her mind that molds a person into an upstanding and devoted member of his society. As you walk away today, I hope that you’re endowed with a renewed sense of self-worth and pride because you are able to affect the lives of thousands through the few hours you put in. After all, volunteering doesn’t improve the world, but it reaches the core of the volunteer, building a strong, caring and independent individual.”
We couldn’t have said it better.
We appreciate the commitment of our supporters who believe in the immediate and long -term importance of nurturing young people to be engaged citizens. And to the thousands of children volunteers, thank you. We feel fortunate to have learned from the young people who have opened their talented minds and hearts and taught us much this year about the vision of children for a better world.
With much gratitude and all our best,
Silda A. Wall, Founder and Chair Maggie Jones, Executive Director
