SERVICE PROJECT OF THE MONTH - MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE / SERVICE PINS
Monday, September 11, 2006 - 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Join Children for Children at MS 131 for our special September Service Project of the Month. Volunteers wil spend the day writing and decorating "Messages in a Bottle" to send to children and familes in the Gulf that have been affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Participants will also make American Flag pins in remembrance of September 11, 2001, reflecting on the importance of helping others and giving back to the greater community.

A day of barbecue, appreciation and hands-on service for families of soldiers abroad or recently returned. CFC hosts a card making project.

A day to celebrate the life and spirit of Hallie Kassandra Geier, to spread her message of kindness and community involvement, and to inspire kindness, respect and social action among young people. CFC hosts a Surgery Pal project.

Help turn Rockefeller Plaza into "Humanity Plaza"! All week long, join CFC, NBC, Habitat for Humanity and other great partners to bring relief to Hurricane Katrina victims. CFC hosts a Mural Painting Project and "Backyard in a Box".

Grow Involved on Martin Luther king, jr. Day

Children for Children will hold its Fourth Annual “Grow Involved on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day” at Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in Manhattan. Honoring Dr. King’s legacy of a lifetime devoted to service, this huge service event consists of hands-on service projects run by twelve different New York City community-based organizations. We expect approximately 700 children, families, and school groups to attend. CFC sponsors a citywide youth Poetry and Art Contest in conjunction with this event.
