A milestone event is a great time to introduce a tradition of giving in your family. As your child celebrates a birthday, bar/bat mitzvah, confirmation, quinceañera, graduation, or holiday, Children for Children’s Celebrations Program makes it easy to introduce and reinforce the idea of caring for others. CFC’s Celebrations Program can also be adapted for preschools and schools. Call CFC at 212.708.0200 for more information.
Below are the three basic ways to participate.
- Make a monetary donation
Cut back on party expenses and donate the savings to CFC. Additionally, you can make a contribution on your own, from monetary gifts received, or ask guests to contribute a donation in the amount of your child’s age.
- Make a book donation
Donate new or gently used books to CFC for classroom libraries in severely under-resourced schools, by asking party guests to bring age-appropriate books as gifts.
- Create handmade birthday cards to brighten another child’s birthday
Create and donate birthday cards that CFC will then give to kids in need of an extra smile on their birthdays.
Children for Children welcomes you to adapt this program to fit your family’s needs by using one, or a combination, of these ideas. Or, craft your own variation. Be sure to take this opportunity to discuss the needs of others, as well how everyone can contribute, even the very young.
The actual contribution is not as important as involving your child in the process and helping others as part of the celebration. Each year you repeat the tradition helps set a lifelong pattern of giving. Fill out the Interest Form, contact CFC by phone 212.708.0200 or e-mail email@example.com for more information or to sign up for the Celebrations Program.
