Spotlight on Super Kids:
P.S. 46 Students

The 2nd and 5th grade students at P.S. 46 in Brooklyn, a 2004 Annual Fund recipient school, have a lot of great work to celebrate! While learning about their Fort Greene community and renovating their local park with murals and planting, the students also won the Sanitation Department’s Golden Apple Awards in the elementary division of Trashmasters! Team Up to Clean Up! Recognized as some of the most recycling-minded students in the city, P.S. 46 kids used recycled materials to create mosaics in the school’s outer garden, including a large mosaic of the Prison Ships Martyrs Monument in Fort Greene Park. Way to go, P.S. 46 students! You did a great job of working to improve your school, community, and the environment.

Grow Involved Club members are eligible to be selected for the Grow Involved Youth Award at CFC’s Annual Benefit in April. This award is given to a young person who shows exceptional initiative and true dedication to serving others.

The Children for Children grant enabled us to create effective teaching environments and an effective inquiry-based science program. So often in the past, our science teachers thought ‘if I only had this instrument or kit my students could truly g.html this concept.’ This Grant made it possible. And now CFC is funding an exciting new service learning school project, so our students can grow more involved in the community.”

Marc Waxman, Co-Director, Future Leaders Institute

“The materials for our early literacy program arrived on Thursday, and I wish you had been able to hear the sounds of the children, rather than just see the pictures, as we opened the cartons together. Their joy and excitement at seeing all the wonderful books was palpable.”

Sheila Schlesinger, Pre-K, PS 323  Brooklyn
