Sponsor CFC’s 2006 Family Fun’raiser and help New York Families to Grow Involved on the Holidays!

CFC's Grow Involved Family Fun'raiser is an opportunity for families to join together in serving their community during the holiday season. Volunteers will provide a meal in a festive environment for families who are enduring the challenges of homelessness. In addition to providing these families with a memorable holiday experience, sponsors will be contributing to the overall mission of CFC which encourages children to begin volunteering at a young age. This event will also serve as an important vehicle to raise funds to support CFC’s youth service programs and to purchase essential educational tools – such as books, computers, science equipment and art materials – for New York City’s most under-resourced schools as they struggle to provide quality education to some of the city’s most disadvantaged communities.

National & Global Youth Service Day 2007

National & Global Youth Service Day, the largest youth service event in the world, mobilizes millions of young people to identify and address the needs of their communities through service.

As New York's Lead Agency, Children for Children plans to engage thousands of volunteers throughout New York in hands-on service projects.

We are calling upon young people, families, schools and community-based organizations in New York to make this a wonderful weekend and showcase the many ways that children give to their communities year-round.

We are asking New Yorkers to sign up and serve this April 20-22, 2007.

Participate in a service project happening near you! As groups register their projects, they will be listed here. Remember, you can always take the lead on a project in your own neighborhood--find out how to get started!

Educators
Run a service project in your community with a grant from Children for Children! CFC will be awarding $250 and $500 grants to groups that plan and run their own service project. Could your service club use a little extra funding to carry out a project to benefit others? Empower the club to develop a project with a CFC grant and toolkit. Does your school have an existing relationship with a community organization? Team up and create a way for students to get involved! Click here to download an application and details. Contact Children for Children for additional applications and information at (212) 708-0200.

Community-Based Organizations
Do you work with youth? Create a team (minimum five youth) to develop a project that addresses a need in your community. Or partner with a school to create a larger service project! CFC is awarding $250 and $500 grants to assist in funding N&GYSD service projects. Click here to download an application and details. Contact Children for Children for additional applications and information at
(212) 708-0200.

Children for Children Special Events and Projects Year-Round

CFC sponsors larger service projects in the fall, winter and spring to introduce youth and families to some of the many ways they can make a difference –from helping the environment to the homeless. CFC also is a founding partner in Project Cicero the annual citywide book drive. Check the CFC calendar to learn about these and other scheduled events.

CFC also works with schools and after school programs to incorporate service, for example, its Grow Involved Kits for school classrooms to experience a service learning project in connection with honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. CFC also adapts its Celebrations Program to work in classrooms for schools and preschools. CFC is also working with The After School Corporation (TASC) to incorporate more service into after school programs. Contact CFC by phone at (212) 708-0200 or by email at celebrate@childrenforchildren.org for more information.
